INPEX CPF 3D Scanning and As-Built Generation

This project involved performing long-term 3D laser scanning and reverse engineering during the construction of the INPEX CPF (Central Production Facility) to precisely record the actual as-built condition of the facility and establish As-Built spatial information.

This project was conducted to continuously 3D scan and reverse engineer major equipment and structures during the construction of the CPF, building the actual construction status into digital data to enable comparison and review against design data. To stably acquire the necessary data in a complex offshore plant environment, self-developed scanning auxiliary devices tailored to site conditions were applied. A lift system was utilized to acquire data in high-elevation areas, and self-fabricated mobile equipment was used to remotely operate the scanner in confined and hazardous spaces where worker access is restricted, such as ballast tanks.

Based on 3D scan data acquired from the field, As-Built 3D models of the hull, topside plant, and major internal spaces were constructed. The reverse-engineered data was integrated with the client's plant and marine design systems, AVEVA PDMS and SM3D, enabling comparison and review between the design data and the actual construction status. By converting large-scale point clouds into 3D models for easy identification and utilization by facility, the usability for design reviews and subsequent engineering tasks was enhanced.
JANGSUNG HDS independently developed and provided an integrated viewer program so that project data can be reviewed even in environments without dedicated professional design and analysis software. Through this long-term project, we have accumulated on-site execution experience and data processing technology required for 3D laser scanning of large offshore plants, As-Built data construction, reverse engineering, and integration with design systems.
