About This Project

Precision 3D Scanning of the Amitabha Buddha Triad mural behind the Geungnakbojeon Hall of Cheoneunsa Temple in Gurye

JANGSUNG HDS Carried out a precise 3D Scanning and shape analysis project targeting the large-scale rear Buddha mural located in the Geungnakbojeon Hall of Cheoneunsa Temple in Gurye.Done.

The main purpose of this project was to precisely record the current state of the deferred-payment mural, build 3D data of the mural surface's shape and deformation state, and secure foundational data that can be used for future preservation and condition comparison.

The target deferred mural is approximately 3m × 5m large-scale muralMoreover, general photography or manual measurement of only a few points makes it difficult to quantitatively record the fine shapes and surface changes of the entire mural.

Precise recording of the mural surface behind the altar as 3D data

JANGSUNG HDS performed a precise 3D Scanning of the entire deferred payment mural to Building 3D data of the actual shape of the mural surface based on Point CloudsDone.

Because 3D scanning can acquire surface shape information without direct contact with the object, it can be effectively used to record the current state of cultural assets with high conservation value, such as murals, as digital data.

Also along with the scan data High-resolution flat image and 3D object datawas constructed so that both the visual condition and three-dimensional shape of the mural can be checked together.

Mural deviation analysis using 3D scanning

In this project, we didn't just stop at recording the appearance of the mural in 3D; by utilizing the acquired 3D Scanning data, Analyze the deviation and deformation state of the mural surfaceDone.

By building the surface geometry of the entire mural into 3D coordinate data, it is possible to visually check protrusions, depressions, and surface irregularities in specific areas and analyze them as quantitative data.

These 3D deviation analysis data serve as an objective record of the current state of the mural, and if the same location is scanned again in the future, compared with the existing data, baseline data for analyzing shape changes and deformation over timecan be utilized as.

Main project deliverables

Through this 3D Scanning project of the Amitabha Buddha's Backwall Mural at Cheoneunsa Temple, we have established the following deliverables.

  • Full back wall mural precision 3D Scanning data
  • Point cloud-based 3D shape data
  • high-resolution flat image
  • Post-payment mural 3D object data
  • Mural surface deviation analysis data and report
  • Digital baseline data for future status comparison

Precise 3D scanning and shape analysis of murals and cultural heritage

JANGSUNG HDS not only does murals, but also Precision 3D scanning and shape analysis targeting Buddha statues, stone cultural heritage, wooden cultural heritage, traditional buildings, and various cultural assets.Perform.

precisely record the current shape of the cultural heritage using a non-contact method, and, as needed, perform tasks ranging from 3D model construction and deviation analysis to report production, Provides 3D data that can be utilized for cultural heritage preservation, restoration, and digital archivingDo.
