3D scanning and reverse engineering of power plant facilities

This project 3D scan and reverse engineering project for power plant facility expansion constructionis.

To proceed with the expansion and renovation work of existing power plant facilities, accurate location and shape information of the currently installed piping, structures, and various equipment is required. However, if there are no existing drawings or if the actual site and drawings do not match, it is difficult to proceed with new designs based on the existing facilities.

To solve these problems, JANGSUNG HDS targets existing facilities at power plant sites 3D laser scanningto perform this, capturing the actual site's geometry and location information with high density Point Cloud Built with data.

Point Cloud-based 3D Reverse Engineering

Based on the 3D Scanning data acquired from the field, we analyze the shapes of existing piping, major equipment, and structures, 3D Reverse Engineering I have completed the task.

This makes it possible, even in situations where existing drawings are unavailable, to reflect the actual site conditions As-Built 3D Data and CAD Design Baseline Dataand made it available for use in the layout of new facilities and the design of expansion work.

Especially in power plants and industrial sites where existing facilities are complexly installed, utilizing 3D scanning helps to accurately understand the spatial relationships between existing and new facilities, and helps reduce interferences and construction errors that may occur during the design phase.

Leica TruView field data construction

In this project, along with 3D Scanning and reverse engineering data, Field verification environment based on Leica TruViewand provided it as well.

By utilizing TruView, users can check surrounding facilities and structures based on scan locations and review the positions and distances of necessary points without having to repeatedly visit the actual site. This enables 3D Scanning data to be utilized for information sharing between the site and the engineering department as well as for design reviews.

Key Performance Tasks

  • 3D laser scanning of existing power plant facilities
  • Building high-density point cloud data
  • Investigation of existing piping and facility status
  • Point Cloud-based 3D Reverse Engineering
  • As-Built 3D Data Building
  • Establishment of basic design data for power plant expansion work
  • Leica TruView data construction
  • Support for verifying on-site equipment locations and distances

JANGSUNG HDS Power plant and industrial plant 3D scanning, reverse engineering of existing facilities, and As-Built data generationprovides precise 3D data that enables design based on actual site conditions, even in industrial facilities where existing drawings are missing or do not match the site.
